“My God, It’s floating!” Angela Jansen, in partnership with Crealev, has designed loS!, the first in a planned series of floating lamps. The lamp features two magnets that constantly repel each other causing the slightly surreal levitating lampshade effect to occur. I want one!

I tried to avoid mentioning the iPhone, but now I’ve failed. It seems like every blog on the internet has mentioned Apple’s iPhone, even if the blog has seemingly nothing to do with technology based subjects – so, even though I’m a complete Apple fanboy, I’ve avoided talking about it. But I can’t hold it in any longer.

I’m undeniably excited about today’s UK launch of the iPhone on the O2 network. Available from Apple, O2 and CarphoneWarehouse stores from 6:02pm (geddit? 6:02pm on the 02 network?!!), there are bound to be load of freaky Apple nerds queuing up down the streets to get their hands on one the moment they’re released. But if you’re too cool for crowds, then hop over to the CarphoneWarehouse website which promises to be taking orders online from the 6:02pm launch time, as does O2.

I’m looking forward to updating Things of Random Coolness via my iPhone. Hopefully, it’ll increase my post frequency, which has been unbeleivably dire lately (sorry!)

This is Tengu. He loves to be around people and he makes his home by your computer. Mr Jones’s Tengu is a small electronic character who connects to your computer’s USB port. Tengu responds to sound, so if you play music then he looks like he is singing along with it. It’s this generations version of the 80′s Dancing Flowers, but not as crap.

Designed by the talented Crispin Jones, I first saw Tengu at the London Designersblock, in which Crispin also showcased his great Watches which help you not only tell the time, but give you guidance on decisions or Mantras to live by.

Golden storage for your precious data. Be dazzled by the golden bling of the LaCie Golden Disk designed by Ora-Ito (brand name of the french designer Ito Morabito). A storage device capable of storing 500 GB of your computer garbage within it’s lovely golden casing.

Hot toilet seats warning system. Canadian deisgn group Plus Minus have had a great idea for warning people about the horrible experience of sitting on a toilet seat, only to then discover it’s still warm from the previous occupant. The heat sensitive toilet seat will warn you if the seat it still warm by changing colour to yellow if the seat is still hot.

Disco tables for alcoholics. I’m sure drinking would be infinitely more interesting with the iBar around.

iBar is a system for the interactive design of any bar-counter. Integrated video-projectors can project any content on the milky bar-surface. The intelligent tracking system of iBar detects all objects touching the surface. This input is used to let the projected content interact dynamically with the movements on the counter. Objects can be illuminated at their position or virtual objects can be “touched” with the fingers.
