Sad news in the architecture world. Czech-born architect Jan Kaplicky of Future Systems died in Prague yesterday, aged 71. Worse still, his death came only hours after his wife gave birth to a daughter.

If you’ve ever been shopping in Birmingham’s (the UK one) Bull Ring, you can’t have failed to notice the soft silver wave-like curve of the Selfridges building. Kaplicky’s death is undoubtedly a great loss to architecture. Our condolences to his family & friends.
