An end to wonky shelves. I’ve been role-playing as a diy type person recently and attempting to put up some shelves. Getting them level isn’t the easiest thing in the world to pull off, so the Spirit level shelf from Das Ding would be handy. Not only can you use it to show off your shelf levelling prowess, but it’ll also stop the annoyance of other people later commenting, “are you sure they’re straight?”

More big bangs! I’ve mentioned the Big Bang hanging light design by Vicente Garcia Jimenez before, but I never realised that there was a wall mounted version of the design. And, in a similar style to the wall mounted version of Big Bang, Vicente Garcia Jimenez showcased a new design in Milan this year called Fields.
Simple, essential shapes, dampened by rich and intense hues. A composition that provides a fascinating effect of warm, enveloping light and an absolute, linear construction that develops over various layers of crossing, overlapping planes. The design concept originates from a suggestive and moving panoramic, almost aerial, view that pays tribute to the designer’s homeland of Mancha, an area of Spain steeped in contrasts that extends over the fields as far as the eye can see.
Having just spent the last few weeks driving around the Spanish countryside, I can definitely see the influence of the landscape in Fields.

My travels have reached the end of the road. I’m gutted, my summer travels have ended early thanks to an unfortunate ability to spend money too quickly, and some boring things that required our attention back home. So I never made it to France afterall. I ended up in North Africa instead (which contributed to the lack increased lack on money).
Anyway, you’ll be glad to know I’ll be back to regular posting duties now. Some of you may have noticed that the website was down for a day or two, which was due to a server move that should make the site more stable from now on. Also, apologies to anyone waiting for a response to any emails - I’m terrible at responding quickly at the best of times - but at the moment I have a stack of emails to get through, so delays are to be expected!
