Mugnum. Not Magnum. Mug…num. Geddit? Not only am I amused by the name pun, the Mugnum by Mohd Fizea Zaukefli itself pleases me no end. An entry in the Ceramics For Breakfast competition by designboom, the Mugnum is mug with a handle shaped like that of a small hand-held firearm.
Seriously, who wouldn’t want to own a gun handled mug?

Bizarre and Beautiful. That’s the only way to explain installations like How did the walrus get to Madrid?, Falling Garden and Brain Forest by Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger.
I don’t know what it’s about, or why they do it, but it’s beautiful and cool.

Suprisingly Restrained. Dezeen have some images of Kanye West’s Apartment in New York which is being designed by minimalist architect Claudio Silvestrin. It’s nothing like I would have expected from a multi-millionaire rap superstar, so I guess money can buy you style.

Bring on the stress! if you want to see a film so full of tension that the whole experience of watching the movie leaves you stressed and exhausted, you have to see the French horror film Ils (”Them” in english). It’s not a cheesy gore flick, but more of a suspense film. I won’t say anything about the storyline, as I don’t want to spoil it for you, but the fact that it’s based on real events is terrifying.
If it’s in a cinema near you, go and see it immeadiatly, before Hollywood makes a cheesy teen slasher movie out of this future classic.

Maths is beautiful. Bathsheba Grossman is an artist exploring how math, science and sculpture meet. She says the work is about life in three dimensions, symmetry and balance, and always finding beauty in geometry.
She’s most definitely succeeded in finding the beauty if the lighting designs she had created for Materialise MGX are anything to go by.

Expensive cheap looking stuff is my favorite. I really love this wine glass and this normal glass by Maxim Velcovsky at Qubus. Resembling the cheap everyday throw-away plastic cups that are ubiquitous these days, this glassware is made from glass.
Everything Qubus create is cool, if you ask me. I mean, what’s not to like about products like a glass walking stick?

I’m a simple man to please. Just take an existing object, and tweak it so it has a quirky little extra feature, and I’m happy. A perfect example is this shelf from Felix Stark. Intergrate a fluid looking fruit bowl into the surface, and a plain shelf starts doing it for me!

The tableware for obsessive compulsives. If you have obsessive compulsive tendancies that require you to make everything line up at right angles, then you really need the Morphescape range from Gaia and Gino. Designed by Karim Rashid, the items in the range look stunning when arranged in a regimented order. The style is probably completely lost when used in a real-life manner, but as a stylish set piece, they look fantastic.

Practical? No. Do I want one? Yes. I love the Dutch Forest clothes hanging thingy by Frans Willigers. As long as you don’t ruin the minimal design by hanging clothes on it, I’m sure it’ll make a stylish addition to your home.
