Jimmie Martin

Baroque funiture with a modern twist. Jimmie Martin has a similar sort of approach as Burke & Hazelden in that a lot of the work takes baroque style furniture and gives it a modern twist through grafitti and colour.

Getting Up Early.

Today's Sunrise

Getting up early once in a while is no bad thing. I woke up early this morning to the coolest sunrise I’ve seen in a long time (I don’t see many – I’m not really a “morning” person). Anyway, I took some photos to show the sleeping what they missed (photo, photo, photo).

Tip of the Day: Set your alarm clock to go off early every once in a while!

Bandages For The Heart.

Bandages for the Heart

Bandages for the Heart. Alyssa Dee Krauss has made some great silver and gold brooches in the style of band-aid plasters called Bandages for the Heart.

The Bandage for the Heart brooch may be worn to communicate the state of healing we can all go through from divorce, break-up, or illness. It can be worn to show support for victims, casualties and survivors of tragedy or as a “medal of honor” for those who have made it through hard times.

Heat Sensitive Toilet Seat.

Heat Sensitive Toiletr Seat

Hot toilet seats warning system. Canadian deisgn group Plus Minus have had a great idea for warning people about the horrible experience of sitting on a toilet seat, only to then discover it’s still warm from the previous occupant. The heat sensitive toilet seat will warn you if the seat it still warm by changing colour to yellow if the seat is still hot.

Seats Made From Radiators.

Radiators

Seating made from radiators are like buses… Mareike Gast and Jeroen Wesselink are two designers who have both come up with the concept of turning radiators into a form of seating. Wesselink’s approach is more quirky, whereas Gast’s design would seem to be the more commercial.

It’s interesting to see how different designers, from different countries, who have never met (I assume) can have the same ideas, and their approaches can be vaguely similar but differentiated (is that a word?) by a personal style.

Visit Mareike Gast’s and Jeroen Wesselink’s websites to see more of their work.

Couscous Kid. November 29, 2006

Couscous Kid

I hate Couscous. But I love the illustrations by Couscous Kid aka. Mathew Star Thomas.

That is all. Go about your daily business.

Normann Copenhagen.

Double Bowl By Rikke Hagen for Normann Copenhagen

Is it cruel to put goldfish in a black bowl? I’m guessing it probably is.

See more products from Normann Copenhagen on their Website (If you’re looking for the Double Bowl, it’s in “Products” under “Living Accessories”).

Jongerius Lab.

Porcelain by Jongerius Lab

Got a fetish for bizarre porcelain? Ever felt the desire for a plate with a snail leaving a trail of gold patterns behind it? Or maybe one with a bird covered in a graphic polka dot print? If you have, then check out the bizarre range of porcelain by Jongerius Lab. I can’t see any use for them, and they’re majorly bizzare, but for some reason I still want one.

Streetwall.

Streetwall

Finally, some über-hot wallpaper! I’m completely sick of the damask wallpaper trend, and the newer trend of screen-printed photos of random everyday objects on wallpaper. Streetwall have managed to come up with something a little more urban and unique.

The Streetwall Collection, designed by designers, offer original patters, unique panoramas to the exact measurements you require. All Streetwall designs have been studied so they can adapt to different formats and all types of interior.

Check the gallery at Streetwall; my favorite is the “French Trotters” concept shop paris.

Plus, with it’s new “Haute Couture” versions, they’re allowing people to create their own interior wall designs. So, I demand that a load of great designers and artists get involved so I can stick their work on my walls!

Customised Converse.

Customised Converse

I’ve never had the courage to draw all over my shoes… that’s why I’m jealous of Richard Arifin’s customised converse. And, if you think his shoes are hot, check out his illustrations at Made For You Everyday (if you really like the work, check his blog too!)
